The inspiration for this dish came from the fabulous dinner I enjoyed at Sailors Thai a few nights ago. There were ten of us and we must have ordered about half of the entire menu. In June The Economist published a sobering report on how price rises plus the financial crisis were affecting food-buying in Britain. It revealed that fruit and veg sales have 'sharply declined', as have cuts of fish and meat.
